1 John 5:14 "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him."
This verse brings hope in my life amidst the dark and tortureous times I feel that I sometimes must face. It speaks for itself: God saying that whatever we ask-if it be according to his will-he hears and we will have. Key phrase there: according to his will. Sometimes things go wrong and we wonder why God didn't bless us. Sometimes we might even use this verse or similar verses against God and accuse him for not blessing us.
O ye of little faith.
Our faith is so small, so tiny, and our understanding is microscopic. "His understanding no one can fathom." (Isaiah 40:28) How can we of such little minds learn to comprehend God's vast love and glorious power? Even in our weakest of moments he helps us cope and he is always willing to be there for us. He is the perfect image of a father, the perfect image of love, and the perfect image of forgiveness.
He know's the past, present, and the future, and the future is what this verse is all about: for in it we learn to trust God with our deepest secrets (not that he does not already know them) and in this verse we learn to give God all the glory. When we choose to accept that His will and the plans that He has for us are far better than our own then we begin to open up to a divine story made just for us by the Ultimate Creator. He knows what is going to happen. He knows everything. We can choose to accept His plans or not and that is where free will comes in. We are not puppets on a string. For God knows the plans he has for us (Jeremiah 29:11) all we have to do is accept those plans for our lives.
Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:6) Stepping out in faith is indeed a leap that not many people are willing to take. Because of fear. We all have our fears. We all have our doubts. But we should NEVER doubt God no matter how bleak and dreary things may seem. Because He knows. Instead we have to trust Him. Trust Him to guide our lives and trust His decisions and plans to be far better than our own. Because they are.
So you think that everything is going wrong? You think that this or that should not have happened? Well it did. For a reason. Everything works out for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). You may think that this could not ever possibly be in His plans, but it is. He will make something seemingly bad turn into something extraordinarily unimaginable. All we have to do is accept His will as our own and give God our complete lives. And only then can he begin to work miracles within our hearts.
Love,
