Letters to God

Dear God,

You said you would never leave me, nor forsake me.
You said you would love me unconditionally.
You promised a hope and a future
Even while I was still being formed in the womb.

You showed me mercy without question,
A slate clean even when I'm sin-infested,
Grace given even when I don't deserve it,
And hope that was risen from a tomb.

You gave me breath so I could breathe,
Words so I could speak
And eyes so I could see
Your beauty.

You gave me hope beyond a doubt,
Faith that will never blow out
And a longing for something more
than this world.

And God, you said you would shadow me
under your wings in times of need
when I feel that I can no longer bare
the pains of this world.

Lord, I'm weak and I am weary
and feeling sad and rather dreary.
If it's alright, I'd like to ask one thing,
maybe two...

Dear Jesus, I'd like to fly
up into the skies
and into your loving arms forever
just me and you.

Because this worlds getting tough
and sometimes I feel like giving up
but I know if you'll just hold me
then I'll have the strength to carry on

Through this storm, through this hurricane,
this ice and snow and this rain
so what I really mean to say
is please take me away

and into the shadow of your wings.
